Halit Özgür Sarı has officially cemented his status as one of Turkey’s fastest-rising cinematic stars. Born in Istanbul in 1993, the talented actor initially took a traditional route, graduating with a degree in Economics from Istanbul Bilgi University before shifting his focus entirely to professional acting education.
Sarı captured global attention through his breakout role as Kadir Eren in the hit drama series “Kardeşlerim” (My Brothers and Sisters). After voluntarily departing the show mid-season to explore new creative boundaries, his career experienced a massive upward surge. Following a lead role in the summer romantic comedy “Gizli Saklı,” he recently found his definitive creative home in the universally acclaimed series “Yabani” (Wild Heart), portraying the complex protagonist Yaman Ali.
Currently, the charismatic actor is heavily preparing for his highly anticipated upcoming role in the digital series “Alıkara” for the premium streaming platform TOD, where he will share the screen with prominent actress Miray Daner.

The Destructive and Passionate Drive Behind Yaman Ali
In an exclusive, deep-diving interview, Halit Özgür Sarı shed light on how his career paths intersected with the ambitious script of “Yabani” and how his hyperactive personality perfectly mirrors his on-screen character.
“I was actually in a period where I didn’t want to work heavily; I wanted to dedicate all my time to my family and fine-tuning my craft,” Sarı revealed. “I read countless scripts, but I couldn’t form an emotional connection with any of them until this one appeared. The moment I read Yabani, I immediately said, ‘This is it.’ It marks the closure of the first major cycle in my acting career—my karmic cycle.”
When asked if he shares any defining character traits with his street-smart character Yaman, Sarı didn’t hold back: “Both of us would burn the entire world to ashes for the things we truly believe in. And we would never hesitate for a single second to do it. Yaman is essentially the untamed child living inside of me.”
Why Every Professional Actor Needs Psychological Therapy
Beyond the glitz and glamour of show business, Halit Özgür Sarı exposed the heavy psychological toll that comes with portraying emotionally demanding roles, delivering a surprisingly candid confession regarding his mental health routines.
“I go to professional therapy sessions every single week; it is an absolute necessity for me,” Sarı admitted. “Honestly, everyone who acts at an intense level should go. For instance, you come home from work one day feeling extremely happy. But the next day, you have to shoot a tragic scene where you are burying your own child. Your brain and body cannot naturally process it as a mere game; they react to it as an organic reality. This emotional imbalance can create massive psychological problems in your later years.”
To maintain his mental grounding, Sarı follows his therapist’s advice strictly. “My therapist told me to start journaling. I’ve been writing in my personal diary for a few months now, and it makes me feel incredibly peaceful. Dedicating one hour of my single day off to therapy is profoundly relaxing.”
Turning Pain and Vulnerability Into Cinematic Strength
The actor also reflected on how hitting the age of 30 drastically softened his personality, making him far more vulnerable and empathetic. Much of this emotional depth stems from a major personal tragedy early in his life. While he views his mother as his ultimate life hero, he experienced profound grief when his father passed away from a severe illness when Sarı was just 18 years old.
Despite past struggles, the actor credits his unstoppable energy as a blessing, noting that whenever he feels emotionally drained, he instantly recharges by focusing intensely on his long-term dreams and creative visions.
