In a historic gathering at the Council of Ministers, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev officially welcomed Eurovision 2026 champion DARA and the leadership of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT). The high-level meeting marked the absolute first step in organizing the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which will be hosted on Bulgarian soil following DARA’s monumental victory with her urban hit “Bangaranga.”

During the reception, PM Radev expressed the nation’s profound gratitude to the young pop icon, emphasizing how her artistic triumph has resonated far beyond the world of music, making a major geopolitical impact across Europe.
A Musical Triumph Welcomed in Berlin
Highlighting the sheer scale of DARA’s international influence, Prime Minister Radev shared an extraordinary behind-the-scenes anecdote from his recent diplomatic visit to Germany.
“DARA, during this short period, you have probably heard many things about yourself that you never even imagined. I want to add one more: you are now part of European Politics,” Radev stated during the press conference. “Just days ago, I was in Berlin, and German Chancellor Merz welcomed me with ‘Bangaranga.’ He literally pulled out his mobile phone and played your Eurovision performance for us.”
The PM further extended his deepest gratitude on behalf of the public: “Your energy, power, and above all, exceptional talent swept everything away in its path. This great victory is yours and your team’s. Our people needed a triumph like this to believe in themselves again.”
Unlocking Bulgaria’s Infinite Creative Potential
DARA, visibly moved by the state reception, used the platform to advocate for the country’s younger generation and the need for structural progress. She framed her historic win as a catalyst for nationwide inspiration and unity.
“Bulgaria is an incredible country filled with immense potential,” DARA addressed the cabinet. “I want to finally see this potential unfold and witness real, authentic changes in our nation—the kind of future that people have been marching for. This victory is a beautiful milestone for me and all young Bulgarians. It serves as an ultimate sign that we can overcome any negative energy when we possess a strong spirit and deep love for what we do.”
The Road to Eurovision 2027: Budgets and Host Cities
With the historic hosting rights secured, the Bulgarian government is moving swiftly to lay down the financial and logistical foundations for the massive global event. Discussions are already underway to allocate a dedicated fund within the upcoming state budget, with financial experts projecting that the tourism and cultural revenue generated by the contest will vastly outweigh the initial operational costs.
While the official host city has not been finalized, four major municipalities—Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Varna—have formally thrown their hats into the ring. However, inside sources indicate that only Sofia and Burgas stand as realistic contenders, given the incredibly strict technological, broadcasting, and infrastructure requirements enforced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
